Maude ‘Mt Maude Vineyard’ Central Otago ‘Reserve – East Block’ Riesling 2010

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 26-Jul-2011
Fruit from the east side of the house block of the ‘Mt Maude' vineyard, Wanaka. Basket-pressed and stainless-steel fermented to 9.3% alc. and 62.8 g/L rs. Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour, and very pale on edge, this is very refined and delicate on bouquet, with lime juice, florals and hints of honey showing. Medium-sweet, the palate features beautifully pure and delicately expressed fruit flavours of white florals and citrus fruits, enlivened by clear, crisp acidity. Softly textured, the gentle sweetness and richness melds harmoniously with the acidity, resulting in wonderful balance. A Rheingau kabinett style that will be good lunchtime drinking, or match mildly spicy Asian dishes over the next 5-7 years. 18.5/20 Jul 2011 RRP $24.00
