Maude ‘Mt Maude Vineyard’ Central Otago ‘Reserve’ Dry Riesling 2014

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 10-Oct-2014
Brilliant, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, very pale on rim. The nose is very elegant, finely concentrated with pure, pristine and delicate aromas of white florals and lime fruit infused with mouthwatering minerals that form a concentrated core. Dry to taste and medium-light bodied, the palate features a very tight and concentrated palate showing intense fruit weight. The wine is taut, and packed with white floral, citrus and minerally flavours. The flavours are carried by a refined, but firm line, with racy acidity combining with the phenolic fruit extraction to provide a thirst-quenchingly dry mouthfeel. This has considerable drive and linearity, and the wine leads to a very long and sustained, fine-textured finish. This is a very fine and firmly concentrated, dry Riesling with great fruit extraction, textures and mouthwatering length. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 6-8+ years. Fruit from the West side of the ‘Mt Maude’ vineyard from vines planted in 1994, foot-stomped and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.0% alc. and 8.3 g/L RS, TA 9.7 g/L and pH 2.8. 169 dozen made. 18.5+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $25.00
