Maude ‘Mt Maude Vineyard’ Central Otago ‘Reserve’ Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 17-May-2013
Mendoza and clone 6 Chardonnay fruit from the ‘Mt Maude’ vineyard, hand-picked and fermented on full solids in seasoned French oak puncheons to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in barrel for 9 months. Bright straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is fresh and youthful with mealy, nutty and minerally aromas forming a complex, layered amalgam, unfolding piquant citrus notes in the glass. Medium-full bodied, tightly concentrated and lively flavours of mineral, citrus fruit and nuts are enhanced by brisk and lacy acidity. The palate has a dense core that reveals creamy, nutty flavours. The mouthfeel is sleek and smooth, with very fine textures and the flavours are driven to a very long and sustained finish of steel, citrus and nuts. This is a concentrated, racy and elegantly proportioned Chardonnay with complex mealy and nutty flavours. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 5+ years. 129 dozen made. 18.5-/20 May 2013 RRP $28.00
