Maude Central Otago Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 24-Dec-2013
Hand-harvested fruit from 4 sites, including the ‘Mt Maude’ site and the others in Lowburn and Gibbston, fermented with 40% in seasoned oak barriques to 13.0% alc. and 6.7 g/L RS. Bright, pale straw colour with the faintest suggestion of blush, pale on rim. This has a very fresh, bright and lively aromatic nose of pears, lifted by exotic florals and enriched by honeysuckle notes. Dry to off-dry in taste, clean, refreshing and vibrant flavours of pears and white florals are enlivened by racy acidity. The fruit has depth, intensity and a luscious vitality, supported by fine, grainy phenolics that provide a positive core and line. The mouthfeel is zesty with plenty of energy that carries the wine to a long, tight, dry finish with pear nuances. This is a refreshing and lively pear-nuanced dry Pinot Gris to match with Thai, Japanese or Vietnamese cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 1,066 dozen made. 18.0/20 Dec 2013 RRP $24.00
