Matua Valley ‘Single Vineyard’ Dartmoor Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2009

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 09-Sep-2011
‘Dartmoor Vineyard' fruit from vines over 25 y.o., WBP and fermented in mainly seasoned oak to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in barrel for 14 months. Bright, light golden-yellow colour with a pale edge, this has an intense and concentrated citrussy-mealy nose with some buttery MLF-like aromas along with nutty, oxidative complexities. Medium-full bodied, the wine has concentrated and powerful, complex flavours of ripe grapefruit and layers of mealy, nutty interest underlined by fresh, crisp, slippery acidity. The wine has excellent balance and a long nutty finish that features a nutty, oaky, spicy amalgam. A white burgundian style with complexity, power and crispness. Match with flavoursome seafood and white meat dishes over the next 4-5+ years. 18.5-/20 Sep 2011 RRP $49.99
