Matua Valley ‘Single Vineyard’ Bannockburn Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 09-Sep-2011
Fruit from a hillside vineyard in the Bannockburn region, destemmed and given a cold soak, fermented with 10% whole clusters to 14.0% alc., the wine then aged 10 months in 30% new barriques. Very dark, deep, black-hued purple-red colour with a dark heart. Quite full and solid on bouquet, the aromas of dark berry and plum fruits are complexed by subtle herb and mineral notes. The aromatics are a little subdued at present. Full-bodied and openly accessible in texture, this has a rounded tannin structure with moderate acidity contributing to the soft mouthfeel. Ripe, dark berry fruit, plum and liquorice fruit flavours are spiced by light cedary oak nuances and flow seamlessly through the palate. A soft and fulsome wine with ripe flavours to match roadted pork and veal over the next 5-6 years. 17.5+/20 Sep 20121 RRP $69.99
