Matua ‘Single Vineyard’ Wairau Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 14-Apr-2014
Bright, pale straw-green colour, lighter on the rim. The nose is full and voluminous with pungent passionfruit, lime and earthy, aromas emanating from a tight and intense core. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features a tightly concentrated and dense heart of ripe passionfruit, tropical fruits and earthy minerals. The flavours open out, providing the mouthfeel with a rounded richness, balanced by fresh, lacy acidity. This grows in juiciness and richness, but the flavours are carried by excellent drive, and the fruit core carries through with excellent energy to a very long, sustaine, pungent finish. This is a concentrated and pungent Sauvignon Blanc with an accessible richness and plenty of underlying drive. Match with seafood, poultry and goats cheese over the next 2 years. Organically grown fruit from the northern side of the Wairau River, cool-fermented in tank to 13.0% alc. and 2.7 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 400 cases released. 18.5+/20 Apr 2014 RRP $29.99
