Matua ‘Single Vineyard’ Hawke’s Bay Albarino 2015

Other White from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 25-Oct-2015
The third release of this label. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, pale edged. The nose is softly fresh with a concentrated, rounded core of white and yellow florals, white stonefruits, limes and refreshing nuances of flint and minerals. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate features a tightly bound heart of white and yellow florals and citrus fruits. The fruit has a subtle richness and sweetness, enlivened by crisp, lacy acidity. The wine has focus and linearity, with fine, grainy phenolics emerging to balance the unctuousness, carrying through to long, dry finish. This is a tightly focussed, dry Albarino with a lively mouthfeel and fine-textured finish. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 3+ years. A blend of fruit from young and old vines, fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 3.4 g/L RS, the wine aged several months on light lees. 167 cases made. 18.0/20 Oct 2015 RRP $35.99
