Matchbook Petite Sirah 2018, California

Petite Sirah from USA
Review Date : 02-Feb-2021
Deep, dark ruby-purple with depth, slightly lighter edged. The nose is full and rich, aromas of red berries and plums melded with game and spices underlying alcohol power. Full-bodied, ripe plums, prunes followed by cardamon, cinnamon spices and a hint of game intermixed. Smoothly extracted tannin provides structure and grip; lively acidity flow with spices throughout the palate. This is a rich palate red blend of Petite Sirah, with a firm tannin structure, lush fruit and spices. Match with meat stew and grilled red meat over the next 4 years. A blend of 76% Petite Sirah, 17% Tannat, 6% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented to 14.5% alc and aged in various French, Hungarian and American oak barrels for 16 months. 18+/20 pts (91 pts) Feb 2021 RRP $30
