Matawhero ‘Church House’ Gisborne Chardonnay Musque 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 28-Nov-2011
Clone 809, also known as Musque Chardonnay, a blending component in Burgundy, grown in the ‘Briant' vineyard, sited between Patutahi and Manutuke, fermented to 12.2% alc. and 5.67 g/L rs. Bright straw-yellow colour with a light golden blush, pale on edge. The bouquet is fresh and lively with lifted aromatics of perfumes and musky fruit along with nuances of herbs and minerals. Dryish and medium-weighted, the palate features soft and sweetly ripe flavours of musk, yellow flowers and spices. Soft textures and good acidity provide freshness and poise, leading to a mildly nuanced finish. A smooth and elegant wine with distinctive musky flavours akin to muscat. Match with seafood and subtle Asian cuisine over the next 2-3+ years. 16.5/20 Nov 2011 RRP $27.00
