Matawhero ‘Church House’ Gisborne Albarino 2014

Other White from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 21-Feb-2016
Full, even, light golden-hued yellow colour. This has a soft, full and broad nose with gentle aromas of white stonefruits melded with soft musk and white floral elements, unfolding some nutty elements and some oxidative detail. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the fruit flavours are light and restrained, showing white stonefruits, savoury florals and musk. The mouthfeel is rounded with some unctuousness encasing fine-grained phenolics. The acidity is soft and the wine flows smoothly to a dry finish with nutty, stonefruit kernel and mineral notes. This is a soft, rounded, dry Albarino with light stonefruit and musky flavours. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 2+ years. Fruit from Paul Tietjen’s ‘Golden Slope’ vineyard, this being second crop, and fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 6.0 g/L RS, TA 7.8g/L and pH 3.21. 16.0+/20 Feb 2016 RRP $26.00
