Matariki ‘Les Filles’ Hawke’s Bay Blanc de Blanc 2009

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Jul-2014
Bright, light golden-yellow colour, pale on rim with a very persistent, fine bead. The bouquet is softly full and voluminous with a core of white floral and citrus fruits entwined with bready, yeasty autolysis, beautifully and harmoniously integrated with complex and refined aldehyde, nutty and toasty secondary elements. Dryish to taste, delicately sweet and luscious flavours of citrus fruits, stonefruits and honey form a rounded core with yeasty, bread autolysis and nutty elements. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with very refined effervescence and soft, ripe acidity enhancing the mellow and rich mouthfeel. Subtle, underlying power provides excellent drive, carrying the wine to an integrated, fine-textured, long and lingering finish. This is a soft and creamy Blanc de Blanc sparkling with refined nutty, bready, secondary complexities. Serve as an aperitif and with white meats over the next 3+ years. 100% Chardonnay, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine bottle-aged on lees. 18.5/20 Jul 2014 RRP $39.90
