Matakana Estate ‘ME’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-May-2017
Deep ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim with slight garnet hues. The nose is softly full with aromas of savoury red cherry and berry fruit entwined with notes of fresh and dried herbs, a little pepper, unfolding dark-red florals, and earthy, slightly resinous, smoky and cedary oak elements. Medium bodied, the palate has up-front, juicy flavours of savoury red cherry and berry fruit intermingling with flavours of dark herbs, earth and pepper, and some resinous oak. The fruit forms a rounded, softly concentrated core, and is supported by soft, supple tannin structure. The mouthfeel is smooth and carries easily to a lingering finish of savoury red fruits, herbs and oak. This is a juicy and softly concentrated Pinot Noir with savoury red fruits and herbal flavours, with a good core and smooth flow. Fruit from a single site in the Upper Wairau and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 10-12 months in French oak. 16.5+/20 May 2017 RRP $21.99
