Matakana Estate ‘ME’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-May-2017
Bright, light golden-hued yellow colour with some depth, lighter on the rim. This has a full nose with good depth of ripe, savoury yellow stonefruits that build to form a solid core. Subtle nutty notes, along with fresh herbs and lifted yellow florals emerge to add interest. Dry to taste and light-medium-bodied, the palate is crisp and firm with a finely concentrated line of white and yellow stonefruits along with soft, savoury nutty and floral elements. The fruit forms an elegantly concentrated core with fine-grained phenolic textures and good linearity, and the palate is enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The wine carries to a crisp, clear and refreshing finish of stonefruits and florals. This is an elegantly concentrated, fresh, dry Pinot Gris with stonefruit and savoury floral and nutty notes on a fine-textured palate. Serve with poultry nd pork, and Asian fare over the nect 3 years. Fruit from an Upper Wairau site cool-fermented in stainless-steel, with 10% from the ‘Home’ block in Matakana blended in post ferment, to 13.0% alc. and 2.5 g/L RS. 16.5+/20 May 2017 RRP $21.99
