Matahiwi Wairarapa ‘Cuvee’ NV

Sparkling Wine from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 19-May-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with pale green hues on the rim, and a persistent, moderately fine bead. This has a fresh, clean, light and uncomplicated nose with a core of white stonefruits entwined with subtle herbal and nutty elements, unveiling delicate waxy and lanolin hints. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a fresh, clean and light impact with reserved white stonefruit flavours and subtle nutty detail. The mouthfeel is balanced with a soft effervescence and a light core, the wine following a oft phenolic line. The acidity is fresh and along with thesugar carries the wine to a light, lingering finish of stonefruits and nuts. This is an uncomplicated, off-dry sparkling wine with light stonefruit flavours and a fresh mouthfeel. Serve as an aperitif or an anytime wine over the next 2 years. Made from Pinot Gris fruit all 2015 vintage, from the estate home vineyard and the ‘Manuka Flats’ vineyard west of Masterton, cool-fermented to 13.0% alc., the base wine on lees 5 months, with the secondary fermentation in tank. The resultant wine carries 11 g/L RS. 15.5+/20 May 2016 RRP $22.00
