Matahiwi Estate Pinot Gris 2021, Wairarapa

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 16-Feb-2022
Bright, pale straw-yellow, even colour throughout. The nose is gently full, packed with pear, apple, white floral and delicate spice. Medium-full bodied, dry to taste, aromas of pear, Braeburn apple melded with honeysuckle and white spice linger with a hint of citrus and grapefruit zest on the finish. The wine possesses vibrant acidity, balanced and provided freshness. Subtle fine-textured phenolics left an elegant mouthfeel. This is a chic Pinot Gris with flavours of pear and citrus with balanced acidity and a fine texture. Match with dim sum and fish slider over the next 3 years. Fruit from Masterton, fermented cool to 14% alc, 4.9 g/l RS, rested on lees for a short period. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Feb 2022 RRP $22.99
