Martinborough Vineyard ‘Lovat Vineyard’ Martinborough Syrah 2013

Syrah from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 16-Oct-2016
Dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is firmly concentrated with aromas of blackberry fruit entwined with black pepper and dark-red and violet florals, along with a layering of spice, unfolding white pepper, dark herbs and nutty oak. Medium-bodied, this has a tightly concentrated core of blackberry fruit lifted by aromatic black-red and violet florals, showing black and white pepper and nuances of spice and herbs. The palate is lively and vibrant with fine-grained, soft-textures, and fresh, lacy acidity lending energy and tension. The wine is carried to an elegantly concentrated, fine finish of pepper, spices herbs and florals. This is a tight and elegant Syrah with blackberry, black and white pepper, spice and floral notes on a fresh, fine-grained palate. Match with lamb and beef dishes, and Middle Eastern fare over the next 6 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Lovat’ vineyard on the Martinborough Terrace, fermented with 10% whole bunches to 12.0% alc., the wine on skins 23 days and aged 15 months in 14.5% new French oak barrels. 18.5-/20 Oct 2016 RRP $48.00
