Marquis d’Angerville Volnay 1er ‘Taillepieds’ 2008

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 07-Mar-2014
Limpid ruby-red colour with a little garnet. This has a powerful and densely packed nose of rich, ripe and opulent black berry fruits with layers of earth, spices and toasty oak, that unfolds funky game elements and complexities in the glass. Full-bodied, rich, plush and juicy, the bold and sweetly fulsome flavours of ripe black fruits, earth and game are bolstered by oak char, and fill the mouth. There is a dense core with good tannin structure softened by the fruit lusciousness, and enlivened by acid laciness. There is an element of funky brettanomyces present, which has not compromised the sweetness or texture. The breadth and fullness is the feature. 5-+ years. From 1.07 ha, in limestone and clay soils, vines up to 45 y.o. 18.5/20 Feb 2014 RRP $120.00
