Marques de Riscal ‘Ardo’ Rioja 2011

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 10-Jul-2015
Full, black-hued garnet-red colour, lighter on the rim with some bricking. This has a firmly concentrated bouquet of savoury and earthy red berry fruits infused with spices and cedary, oak vanillins. This aromatics have depth and show a complex fruit-oak amalgam that is expressive of classical Rioja. Medium-full bodied, the palate features sweet and lush flavours of dark red berry fruits melded with oak vanillins and cedar. The palate is well concentrated and the fruit supported by fine-grained tannins with integrated acidity providing a refined line. The wine carries to a light, slender, lingering finish with fruit and oak nuances. This is a classical Rioja with sweet fruit and oak flavours, and a light, nuanced finish. Serve with roasted red meats and with semi-hard and hard cheeses over the next 3-4 years. Tempranillo fruit fermented to 14.0% alc. 17.5-/20 Jul 2015 RRP $19.99
