Markus Huber ‘Reserve’ ‘Berg’ Gruner Veltliner 2007

Gruner Veltliner from Austria
Review Date : 07-Feb-2013
Traisental DAC, max. 5% noble rot, fermented in acacia casks to 13.5% alc. and 3.1 g/L rs, aged on fine lees 6 months. Bright, light straw-yellow with lemon-gold hues. The nose is full and vigorous with brackish herb and peppery spiciness forming a comlpex amalgam which unfolds detail and interest. This has depth and weight to the bouquet. Dryish to taste and full-bodied, this is softly mouthfilling to form a broad and weighty palate. Classical pepper and herb flavours unfold. The palate is well-structured with packed flavours and balanced phenolic textures balanced by an oily unctuousness. The acidity underlines the fruit providing vitality and excellent length. This is a textbook ‘Reserve' style with robustness and richness. 19.0/20 Feb 2013
