Margrain ‘Proprietor’s Selection’ Martinborough Riesling 2011

Riesling from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 20-Feb-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour with faint green hues, pale on rim. This has a very finely concentrated bouquet with beautifully balanced and harmoniously integrates aromas of lime fruit, mouthwatering minerals and secondary toasty complexities. Off-dry to taste, the flavours of citrus fruit and toasty complexities are stylishly restrained, but form a tight and concentrated core. White florals and mineral lift is enhanced by racy acidity providing excellent linearity to the palate. The fruit extract is prevalent and is carried by the acidity and very fine-featured phenolics to a very long, lingering finish with honey, toast and lime notes. This is a very fine, bright and racy off-dry Riesling beginning to show complex toasty interest. Serve as an aperitif, with seafood and Mediterranean fare over the next 5-6 years. Fermented to 12.3% alc. and 9.5 g/L RS with TA 7.35 g/L and pH 2.75. 18.0+/20 Feb 2014 RRP $24.00
