Margrain Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 21-Nov-2016
Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour, near colourless on the rim. The nose is tightly bound and shy in expression with notes of passionfruit, gooseberries and tropical fruit nuances, entwined with fresh herbs and chalky, mouthwatering mineral elements. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate possesses gently sweet and luscious flavours of passionfruit and tropical fruits with delicate gooseberry notes, along with fragrant white florals, revealing mineral elements. The fruit sweetness is balanced by a little phenolic grip and enlivened by light, lacy acidity. The wine carries positively to a crisp, dry, mouthwatering finish of passionfruit and gooseberries. This is a gently rich and sweetly luscious Sauvignon Blanc with passionfruit and gooseberry flavours, and a light, dry-textured, mouthwatering finish. Match with salads and vegetables, and with Asian cuisine over the next 2 years. Estate fruit from the ‘Home’ and ‘River’ blocks, tank-fermented to 13.1% alc. and 5.75 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Nov 2016 RRP $24.00
