Margrain Martinborough Gruner Veltliner 2015

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 23-Sep-2015
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale edged. The nose is fresh with aromas of white florals melded with white stonefruits, herbs, honeysuckle and minerals, that build in depth and intensity with aeration, unveiling nuances of spice. Medium in sweetness and moderately light-bodied, the palate is rounded in presentation with flavours of white florals and honeysuckle interwoven with nuances of herbs and spices. Soft acidity lends a soft, mellowness to the fruit core. Fine, grainy phenolic textures balance the sweetness and mouthfeel, providing structure and line, and lead to a fine-textured, dry finish of florals and honeysuckle. This is a rounded, medium Gruner Veltliner with white floral’ herb and honied notes, and a fine, grainy structure and line. Serve with Asian cuisine over the next 3 years. Fruit from Te Muna Road, 50% of the fruit given skin contact and tank-fermented with 50% WBP and fermented in seasoned oak to 12.5% alc. and 18.5 g/L RS, with half of the barrel portion going through MLF. 17.5/20 Sep 2015 RRP $24.00
