Margrain Martinborough Chenin Blanc 2013

Chenin Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 20-Feb-2014
Fruit from old vines, fermented to 11.8% alc. and 24 g/L RS. Bright, even straw-yellow colour. The nose is very refined and tight, with refreshingly pure aromas of white florals and stonefruits, the depth impressive aided by piercing freshness. Medium in sweetness and medium-bodied, intensely penetrating flavours of white flowers, honeysuckle and minerals feature on the palate, showing considerable fruit weight and extract. The mouthfeel possesses a very fine thread of phenolics guiding the palate, enlivened by ripe, lacy acidity. This is poised between textural concentration, sweetness and acid cut. The flavours flow with tension to a mouthfilling, rich and sustained finish of florals and steel. This is an intensely concentrated medium, rich Chenin Blanc guided by phenolics and racy acidity. Serve with seafood and mildly spicy Asian fare over the next 5+ years. 18.5/20 Feb 2014 RRP $30.00
