Margrain Martinborough Botrytis Selection Pinot Gris 2012

Sweet Wine from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 17-Jan-2013
Fully botrytised contract fruit selected on shrivel and infection, fermented to 10.0% alc. and 150 g/L rs. Brilliant light golden yellow colour with pale straw hues on edge. This has a fresh, voluminous bouquet with finely expressed, lifted tropical and citrus fruit aromas harmoniously melded with marmalade, musk, honey and talc botrytis. Very sweet to taste, rich and decadent flavours of honey, musk, tropical fruits and botrytis gently fill the palate. The richness and sweetness is underlined by refreshing acidity and provides the palate with a poise between unctuousness and raciness. The mouthfeel is smooth and harmoniously balanced. A very fine textural thread follows the flow of the palate line as it leads to a soft, full and smooth, lingering finish. This is a very full and harmonious botrytised Pinot Gris dessert wine with musky, tropical fruit. Match with creamy, fruit desserts and softer blue cheeses over the next 4-5+ years. (375 ml) 19.0-/20 Jan 2013 RRP $28.00
