Margrain ‘Home Vineyard’ Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 11-Aug-2013
A blend of 7 clones, from vines up to 20 y.o., fermented with minimal (2%) whole cluster to 14.1% alc., the wine spending 21 days on skins and aged 12 months in 25%new French oak, followed by a further 6 months in seasoned oak only. Moderately deep ruby-red colour with some garnet hues on rim. This has a soft, fine and ethereal nose of perfumed, soft red fruits and red florals expressed with clarity, gently building in depth and density. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegant and slender in proportion with delicate layers of soft red berry fruits with spice, earth and dried herb detail. The flavours are gently rich, with fine acidity providing excellent tension and brightness to the fruit. The wine has a smooth and silky flow, leading to a light, nuanced finish with savoury, sweet red fruits. This is a subtle and ethereal, red fruited Pinot Noir with fine textures and detail. Match with poultry, and fine Asian cuisine over the next 5-6 years. 18.0+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $52.00
