Margrain ‘Home Block’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 07-Sep-2015
Light ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter edged. The bouquet is elegantly presented with good intensity of ripe strawberry fruit lifted by red floral detail. Subtle nuances of herbs and savoury earth unfold and meld seamlessly with the fruit and fragrant florals. Medium-bodied, soft and gently luscious flavours of strawberries show with an array of red florals and delicate notes of dried herbs. The wine is expressed with delicacy and subtlety, exuding plenty of vinosity and presence. The flavours are harmonious and the mouthfeel is seamless in flow with soft, supple tannins and acidity guiding the wine to a long, delicately flavoured, strawberry and floral finish. This is a beautifully elegant, harmonious and seamless Pinot Noir with ethereal strawberry and floral fruit and good vinous presence. Serve with salmon, tuna, poultry and pork over the next 5-6 years. Clones 5, 114, 115, Abel and 10/5 from the original plantings, vines 22 y.o., the fruit practically all destemmed and fermented to 13.1% alc. with 10% by indigenous yeasts, the wine spending 21 days on skins and aged 12 months in 20% new French oak. 18.5/20 Sep 2015 RRP $42.00
