Maretti Langhe DOC Rosso 2016

Blended Red from Italy - Piedmont
Review Date : 23-Jun-2018
Even, dark ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. This has an elegant and soft nose, a little slender but well-proportioned with a core of ripe dark-red berry fruit with some dried herb and earthy complexity. This unfolds in detail with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is gently mouthfilling with sweet flavours of dark-red fruits entwined with earthy elements and dark and dried herbs. Savoury florals of the Nebbiolo provide aromatic lift. The palate has soft tannin extraction and grip with fresh, lacy acidity providing liveliness. The wine carries easily to a light, textured, sweet-fruited finish. This is an elegant Barbera/Nebbiolo Langhe blend with sweet and lively fruit flavours and supple grip. Match with pasta, risotto and red meat dishes over the next 3-4 years. A blend of 75% Barbera and 25% Nebbiolo from younger vines from the Barbaresco and Barolo villages, fermented to 13.5% alc. and aged 8 months in small French oak casks and large Slavonion oak, blended and given a further 4 months in large oak casks. Winemaker: Danilo Droco. 17.5-/20 Jun 2018 RRP $30.00
