Maretti Langhe DOC Rosso 2015

Blended Red from Italy - Piedmont
Review Date : 08-Mar-2017
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with black hues at the heart, lighter on the rim, youthful in appearance. This has a full, soft nose with aromatic dark-red berry fruit along with florals and lifted whole berry fermentation confectionary notes, and subtle fresh herb elements. Medium-full bodied, this has a rich and plush, mouthfilling palate of sweetly ripe flavours of dark-red berry fruits along with whole berry fermentation confectionary lift, nuances of red florals and jam. The fruit is supported by fine, grainy tannins providing mouthfeel and grip, and the palate enlivened by bright, lacy acidity. The sweet flavours are carried by the structure and acidity to a juicy, fruity finish of red fruits and subtle hints of jam. This is a sweet and juicy modern Langhe red with red berry and plum jam flavours on a lively, textured palate. Match with barbecued fare over the next 3-4 years. A blend of 75% Barbera and 25% Nebbolio from Langhe, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 8 months in small French oak and large Slavonian oak, blended and given a further 4 months in large oak casks. Winemaker: Danilo Droco. 17.5/20 Mar 2017 RRP $30.00
