Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-Oct-2016
Light ruby-red colour with some depth, paler on edge. The nose is firm with a moderately deep cor of dark-red and black berried fruits along with notes of tamarillos entwined with dark herbs, unfolding nuances of plums and dark raspberries. Medium-bodied, the palate possesses a tight and firm core with sweet, dark-red and black fruits with notes of raspberry liqueur and dark herbs. The fruit is supported by grainy tannin extraction and grip, and the mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh acidity. The wine is carried with good energy to a dry, textural, grainy finish with flavours od dark-red fruits, red liquorice and herbs, This is a tight and grainy-textured Pinot Noir with sweet dark-red berry fruit along with notes of red liquorice and herbs on a lively, fresh palate. Match with antipasto, tapas, poultry and pork over the next 4 years. Hand-picked fruit fully destemmed and fermented with whole berries to 13.0% alc., the wine aged approx. 14 months in 15% new French oak barriques. 16.5+/20 Oct 2016 RRP $26.00
