Map Maker Marlborough Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-May-2015
Moderately dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is very tightly bound with intense aromas of youthful and primary dark raspberry fruit lifted by violet florals, unfolding mineral elements and subtle herbal elements. Red liquorice and raspberry liqueur notes emerge with aeration. Medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned, tightly concentrated, lively and vibrant flavours of dark raspberries, red liquorice and dark herbs feature on the palate. The fruit is supported by supple, fine-grained tannins lending a fine-textured line, and flows with plenty of energy from the acidity. The wine carries to a long concentrated, rounded finish with raspberry flavours. This is a tightly bound, concentrated Pinot Noir with dark raspberry fruit, and a lively, fine-textured finish. Serve with antipasto, poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked estate fruit destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented mainly with indigenous yeasts to 13.0% alc., the wine aged in French oak barriques. 17.5+/20 May 2015 RRP $26.00
