Map Maker Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Jul-2014
Rapaura fruit comprising 4 clones, hand-picked, destemmed, given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.6% alc, some parcels on skins up to 40 days, the wine aged 8 months in French oak barriques. Deepish, bright ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. This has a bright and aromatic nose with attractive primary fruit notes of ripe raspberries and subtly lifted whole berry floral, confectionary and liqueur elements that build in depth with aeration. Medium-full bodied, soft, plush and juicy flavours of ripe raspberry fruit are enriched by sweet, lifted whole berry fermentation confectionary and jam elements. The palate features a soft, dense core and supple tannin extraction, with discreet, balanced acidity, carrying the wine to a juicy, lush raspberry fruited finish. This is a soft, plush and full, raspberry-flavoured Pinot Noir with a supple, juicy palate. Match with pasta, risotto, poultry and pork over the next 3-4+ years. 17.5/20 Jul 2014 RRP $26.00
