Map Maker Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-Jun-2011
The second label for Staete Landt. Light, even garnet-red with a light edge to the colour. Quite delicate on bouquet, with fragrant red floral and strawberry aromas along with fresh, cooling herb and fennel-like notes. Medium-bodied, this has attractive, up-front strawberry fruit flavours laced with notes of spice and earth, quite lush and sweet in expression. The tannin extraction is modest, but there is good vinous presence and sufficient textural line through the palate. A very approachable wine to enjoy over the next 3-4+ years with antipasto, pasta and Middle Eastern cuisine. Estate Rapaura fruit destemmed and given a cold soak and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 18 months in barrel. 16.0+/20 Jun 2011 RRP $26.95
