Map Maker Marlborough Chardonnay ‘Pure’ 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-May-2015
Hand-picked estate fruit full fermented in puncheons to 13.2% alc., with no MLF. This is a bottling of a selection of puncheons showing the best ‘fruit purity’. Bright, even straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is very elegant with fresh and fruit-focussed, pure aromas of white stonefruits, acacia florals flinty notes and mouthwatering mineral nuances. The aromatics are tightly held with very good intensity. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features an up-front core of white stonefruits and citrus fruits with smooth, rich and rounded textures. The richness is balanced by crisp, lacy acidity and a very fine underlying phenolic line that carries the wine to a light, crisp and dry, but lingering finish. This is a refined, up-front, fruit focussed Chardonnay with some richness and a light, dry finish. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3+ years. 17.0/20 May 2015 RRP $20.00
