Maori Point Pinot Noir 2018, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 05-Feb-2021
Deep, even dark ruby red, faintly opaque, lighter on the rim. The bouquet is alluring, gently full with floral fragrances, dark herbs, entwined with black cherries, blackberries and delicate spices. Medium-full bodied, black cherries and blackberries provide fruit structure, along with sweet spices and black pepper, dark herbs, growing in volume on the palate. The mouthfeel made up of velvety, fine-grained tannin and lifting floral aromatics; lively acidity brightens up the palate and provides drive to a sustained finish. This is a dark-fruited Pinot Noir with herbs and spices details and a velvety palate. Match with lamb and duck casserole over the next 3-5 years. Handpicked, native yeast fermented to 14.3% alc. Aged in French oak barrels. Minimal sulfites, unfined and unfiltered. Vegan friendly. 18+/20 pts (91 pts) Feb 2021 RRP $42.95
