Maori Point Pinot Gris 2021, Central Otago

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 04-Aug-2021
Bright, pale yellow with a light green tinge, lighter edged. The bouquet is softly full and elegant, penetrating aromas of apple, Nashi pear interweave floral and fennel pollen with a slight dusting of spice. Medium-bodied, dry-ish to taste, a refined palate weaved by fine-textured phenolics, displaying Nashi pear, apple aromas, white floral intermix, delicate spice lifted the closing. Crunchy acidity flows with minerals on a chalky line, purity of fruit shines through with poise, lends linearity. This is a crisp and textural Pinot Gris with refined features on a mineral drive. Match with pork tenderloin and steamed fish over the next 5+ years. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed, half the wine was fermented in old French oak barrels with weekly lees stirring and half in stainless steel tank, 12% alc. Vegan friendly. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Aug 2021 RRP $27.50
