Maori Point Chardonnay 2021, Central Otago

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 28-Feb-2022
Bright, even, pale straw-yellow. The wine has a soft expression, lift aromas of yellow blossom, apple and pear intermixed citrus; a layer of spice and subtle oak detail adorned. Medium-bodied, a creamy palate displays aromas of golden pear, yellow apple and pink grapefruit, entwined with yellow blossom, citrus zest followed by caramel and hazelnut details. A textural palate contributed by fine-textured phenolics and a creamy flow; lacy acidity draws a long elegant line. Subtle nutty and zesty elements added interest to the spice warming palate. This is an elegant, cool-climate Chardonnay with flavours of tree fruit, citrus and well-portioned oak element on a creamy palate. Match with pan-fried grouper and eel sushi over the next 3-5 years. Fruit from Bendigo Hill, handpicked, wild fermented in barrels with 20% new oak, wild MLF, matured on lees for 10 months. 14% alc. Vegan friendly. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Feb 2022 RRP $39.95
