Manu Merlot Cabernet 2016, Hawkes Bay

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 03-Jun-2020
Bright, medium ruby-red with some depth and a purple hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is fronting with savoury, leathery tertiary elements; mingling with cassis, red berries and delicate spices; subtle notes herbs and vine leaves entwined with oak fragrant. Medium-bodied, the palate is soft with notes of red berries, cassis; subtlely herbaceous, unfolding hints of plums and leather. The flavours are clean, and the mouthfeel is bright and lively with fresh acidity. The smooth texture of tannin underlines the fruit, carries the wine to a fresh, dry finish. This is an amiable Merlot Cabernet blend with cassis, red berries along with nuances of herbs and vine leaves on a lively palate and smooth tannin structure. Serve with meat stew and grilled red meat over the next 3 years. Merlot is predominant with a small portion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, fermented to 13.1% alc. Aged 10 months in a mix of stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. 17.5/20pts June 2020 RRP $24.99
