Mandoleto Terre Siciliane IGT Nero d’Avola 2015

Other Red from Italy - Other
Review Date : 25-Aug-2017
Moderately deep ruby-red colour with light purple hues, paler on the rim. The nose is elegantly restrained with aromas of dark-red and black cherry fruit along with suggestions of plums, with hints of spice, nuts and minerals. Medium-bodied, the palate is bright and lively with stylishly restrained, but juicy flavours of dark-red cherry fruit entwined with subtly savoury spice, nutty and mineral notes. Rich, sweet plummy elements emerge and blossom as the wine flows along a light, structured line. The mouthfeel is fresh from crisp acidity, and the wine carries with good tension to a sweet, red-fruited, lively finish. This is a bright, lively and juicy Nero d’Avola with dark-red cherry fruit and hints of spice and minerals, blossoming in richness on the palate. Serve with antipasto, poultry and pork over the next 3 years. 95% Nero d’Avola and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from estate vineyards of the Fazio family in Fulgatore, destemmed and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged in stainless-steel tank and seasoned oak barrels.
