Mandoleto Terre Siciliane IGT Nero d’Avola 2013

Other Red from Italy - Other
Review Date : 17-Dec-2014
Dark, deep ruby-red colour, a little lighter on edge. The nose is soft with moderately deep aromas of ripe dark red and black berry fruits with black earth and porty elements. The aromatics are harmoniously interwoven, revealing a little tar and chocolate in the glass. Medium-full bodied, the flavours of dark, earthy, berry fruits and earth are restrained in expression. This has good weight and palate presence, the mouthfeel soft and rounded with mellow tannins and low acidity lending an easy, but positive structure. Port, chocolate and earthy flavours are carried to a light, dry finish. This is a soft, gently structured and dry Nero d’Avola with ripe dark fruits, earth and port-like elements. Match with barbecued fare and casseroles over the next 3 years. 95% Nero d’Avola and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from Fulgatore, Erice, hand-picked and fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine partially aged in seasoned oak. Winemaker: Giacomo Anzaldi. 16.5/20 Dec 2014 RRP $18.99
