Man O’ War Waiheke Island Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 30-Jul-2014
89% Sauvignon Blanc and 11% Semillon, WBP and tank fermented to 13.0% alc. and <2 g/L RS. Bright straw-yellow colour, light on rim. The bouquet is fresh and brash with intense aromas of cut grass, green stalks and green capsicums along with gooseberries and root ginger, the cool Semillon expression prominent. Dry to taste, tightly concentrated and zingy, the flavours of grass, capsicums and ginger are lifted with steely herb and mineral notes. The mouthfeel is racy and thirst-quenching, with a firm, dry, chalky-textured phenolic line and bracing acidity. The wine has linearity carrying the palate to a long, lingering zesty, dry finish. This is a tight, crisp and dry-textured Sauvignon Blanc-based wine with cool grassy and ginger flavours. Match with salads, vegetables and Asian cuisine over the next 2+ years. 17.0+/20 Aug 2014 RRP $25.90
