Man O’ War Waiheke Island Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 30-Jul-2014
Even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, paler on rim. This has an elegant, penetrating and tightly concentrated nose of white stonefruits along with some flinty and minerally reductive complexities, and nuances of nuts and butterscotch MLF that unfold in the glass. Medium-full bodied, tightly bound and slightly restrained flavours of white stonefruits intermingle harmoniously with nuts, flinty lees and reduction elements and butterscotch. A fine creamy-textured line guides the palate with discreet acidity providing freshness and vitality. The flavours flow smoothly to a very long and sustained finish with nutty notes. This is an elegant and tightly bound, creamy Chardonnay with stonefruit, flint and nutty flavours. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit WBP and indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned oak to 13.6% alc., the wine aged 8 months with partial MLF. 17.5/20 Aug 2014 RRP $29.90
