Man O’ War ‘Pinque’ Waiheke Island Rosé 2014

Rose from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 14-Oct-2014
Very pale salmon pink colour with hints of purple, light on rim. The nose is very delicate and refreshing with subtle, but precise strawberry and watermelon aromas along with a thirst-quenching mineral note. Red floral nuances emerge in the glass. Dry to taste, delicate fruit flavours of strawberries, cranberries and watermelon show with a suggestion of sweetness. The mouthfeel is crisp, with lacy, mouthwatering acidity and the wine follows a very fine textural line. A little alcoholic drive combines with the acidity to carry the wine to a dry finish with red floral nuances. This is a crisp, dry, delicately flavoured, mouthwatering rosé. Serve as an aperitif, with antipasto and seafood over the next 2 years. A blend of 67% Merlot and 33% Malbec, from the ‘Cactus Bay’ vineyard, hand-picked and cool-fermented in tank to 13.5% alc. and dryness. 17.5/20 Sep 2014 RRP $25.90
