Man O’ War ‘Gravestone’ Waiheke Island Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 06-Nov-2012
Very pale straw with slight green hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is very fresh, vibrant and fulsome with deep aromas of an amalgam of grassy, fennel-like Sauvignon Blanc fruit with waxy lantana of Semillon, and spicy barrel-ferment notes. Dry to taste, the palate is elegantly proportioned but very intensely fruited, with tightly bound, penetrating fruit flavours. Grassy notes, green peppers, nectarines and lantana are laced by fine, subtle, oak spicing. This has a slippery and racy mouthfeel, with a fine textural line that leads to a very long and sustained finish. Drink over the next 3-4 years. 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon, fermented to 13.0% alc. and 2 g/L rs, 30% in seasoned oak, the wine aged 3 months on lees. 18.5/20 Oct 2012 RRP $32.99
