Man O’ War ‘Exiled’ Ponui Island Pinot Gris 2012

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 06-Nov-2012
St. Helena clone fruit from Ponui Island, a small amount botrytis affected, given skin contact and tank fermented to 13.5% alc. and 30 g/L rs. Bright, light straw-yellow colour, the nose is one of real presence and depth, showing beautifully pure aromas of ripe pears and stonefruits, and a steely intensity and freshness. Medium in sweetness, concentrated and densely packed flavours of ripe pears and stonefruits reveal honeysuckle and spice nuances. This is lush and soft-textured, exuding a subtle decadence. The palate has fine acidity providing subtle underlying tension, carrying through to a sustained, citrus and honied finish. This will drink well over the next 3-4+ years. 18.5+/20 Oct 2012 RRP $32.99
