Maison Noire Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2015

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 13-Feb-2017
Dark, deep, black-ruby red colour with light purple hues on the rim. The nose is elegantly concentrated with aromas of blackberry fruit entwined with black pepper and white pepper, violet florals and spice notes. Medium to medium-full bodied, the palate has fresh, up-front, moderately mouthfilling flavours of blackberries, along with black and white pepper notes, and subtle nuances of herbs, violet florals and spices. The fruit has vigour and is supported by light, grainy tannin textures, and enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The palate has accessibility and flows to a light, but firm finish of pepper, herbs and spices. This is a fresh, up-front and lively Syrah with blackberry, pepper, floral, herb and spice flavours on an accessibly structured palate. Match with barbecued and roasted red meat dishes over the next 4 years. Fruit from the Gimblett Gravels, destemmed and fermented to 13.56% alc., the wine spending 30 days on skins post ferment and aged 16 months in 30% new French oak. 17.5-/20 Feb 2017 RRP $25.00
