Maison Noire Chardonnay Puketapu 2022, Hawke’s Bay

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Nov-2023
Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is gently full, with aromas of pineapple, stonefruit, citrus and roasted almond butter. Medium-full bodied, aromas of peach and citrus at core, melded with lemon peels, pineapple, roasted almond, burnt butter and spice. Barrel fermentation complexity contributes to palate weight, lees ageing rounded, and broadens with creaminess. The wine has a lovely texture with a lively acid backbone. Match with roasted chicken and grilled fish over the next 3+ years. Fruit from Waimarama Road, barrel fermented to 12.5% alc, aged 12 months in oak. 18/20 pts (90 pts) Nov 2023 RRP $35
