Maison Noire Cabernet Franc 2022, Hawke’s Bay

Cabernet Franc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Nov-2023
Moderately deep purple with a ruby-red hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and pretty, with aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry melded with mint leaves, violet, sweet vanilla and delicate spice. Medium-bodied, aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry entwined with mint, blackcurrant vines, violet, rooibo tea, vanilla and cinnamon. The wine is bright and lifted with pretty aromatics, lively on the palate, elevated by spice, floral elements and enlivening acidity. Silky tannin extraction lightly coated the palate. This charming Cabernet Franc has lifted aromas, silky tannins, and a lively presence. Match with braised brisket and pork over the next 3+ years. Fruit from Waimarama Road, handpicked, fermented to 12.5% alc. 50 cases produced. 18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) Nov 2023 RRP $35
