Main Divide Waipara Valley Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 12-Jun-2014
Waipara Valley fruit, a small portion botrytis-affected, col-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 22.7 g/L RS, the wine bottled with a little natural CO2. Bright, full and even straw-yellow colour with lemony gold hues, lighter on rim. This has a soft, full bouquet with interwoven aromas of yellow florals, citrus fruits, tropical fruits and honey, complexed by subtle, funky flint notes and a suggestion of toast. Medium in sweetness, harmoniously concentrated flavours of citrus and yellow stonefruits are entwined with honey and minerally, flinty elements on palate, blossoming to show exotic florals. This has good body and the mouthfeel is rounded with a guiding textured, phenolic line, with gentle acidity providing freshness and energy. The wine is carried to a soft, off-dry finish with lingering honied notes. This is a gently luscious and subtly complex medium Riesling with good body and soft textures. Serve with mildly spicy and Asian cuisine over the next 4-5 years. 18.0/20 Jun 2014 RRP $19.95
