Main Divide Waipara Valley Riesling 2011

Riesling from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 26-Jun-2013
Bright, full and even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. The bouquet is full and open, but well-concentrated with aromas of yellow florals and citrus fruits along with honey, unfolding exotic jasmine and toasty nuances. Medium-sweet, full and broad, mouthfilling flavours of ripe citrus fruits, honey and jasmine florals are enlivened by fresh acidity and a little spritz tingle. Some marmalade and botrytis-like talc notes intermingle with hints of secondary toast elements. The palate has a deep core that gently exudes richness and lusciousness. An underlying textural line and positive drive carries the flavours to an up-front, honied and long lingering finish. This is a bold and flavoursome medium Riesling with exotic and luscious fruitiness. Serve as an aperitif, with mildly spicy cuisine and with fruit-based desserts over the next 4+ years. Late-picked fruit cool-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 21.4 g/L rs. 18.5-/20 Jun 2013 RRP $16.95
